Our aim is to promote and support emotional & physical healing & wellbeing through holistic care by providing free and affordable therapies and classes.

 

With a wide range of services including therapeutic counselling, cognitive behaviour therapy, complementary therapies, mindfulness, yoga & fitness classes, children’s yoga, gentle restorative yoga classes, yoga teacher training, there truly is something for everyone!

Cognitive behavioural therapy

(C.B.T) is a form of talking therapy that’s designed to help bring awareness to our thoughts, feeling and emotions and how they affect our behavior. CBT is effective in treating a range of issues including depression , anxiety and trauma.

Counselling

Counselling is a talking therapy that involves a trained therapist listening and supporting us find ways to deal with and resolve our personal or psychological issues and trauma.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind & spirit. It enhances both physical & emotional health.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary health therapy. Pressure is gently applied to areas on the feet (or hands) which correspond/link to specific organs & systems of the body. Reflexology helps induce relaxation & healing.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture, a traditional Chinese medicine, involves the insertion of very fine needles through the skin at strategic points on the body. It is used to treat pain, manage stress & improve overall wellness.

Restorative Yoga

This yoga is suitable for all levels, is practiced at a slow and gentle pace, focusing on long holds, stillness, & deep breathing. It is deeply nourishing &. encourages physical, mental & emotional relaxation.

Children's Yoga

Children’s yoga is a fun way to practice yoga & mindfulness through the use of songs, games & stories. The many benefits include improvement in balance, strength, fitness, stress levels, self-esteem & behaviour.

Our Team

Joanne Maguire
Director

She has worked as a yoga and meditation teacher for over 20 years. In the last 10 years she has taught and supported hundreds of yoga teachers through their Yoga teacher training within Ireland. Jo believes very much that health is a holistic approach. In addition to her yoga studies she qualified in many healing modalities such as acupuncture, reflexology, aromatherapy, cranial sacral therapy, nutrition etc. Jo is also an accredited counsellor and psychotherapist. She currently works in private practice and teachhes on yoga teacher training and counselling degree courses both in Northern and Southern Ireland.

Jo has also worked extensively within the voluntary and community sector both locally and internationally in an educational and therapeutic roles. She has worked in Romania supporting and caring for orphaned children with H.I.V and A.I.D.S. And in educational programmes in Africa with orphaned children with special needs. At home Jo has taught mindfulness programmes to primary and secondary school children. She also worked for local charities as a home support worker and therapist. 

Began her yoga practice at 11 years ago after a spinal injury and has continued her yoga practice since then. Her first yoga book borrowed from her primary school library the Light of Yoga by Iyengar  this began her journey into all aspects of yoga including asanas, meditation and yogic philosophy 

She has met some of the world's most inspiring teachers and believes her greatest teacher to date is her daughter Grace (6years old).

Dr. Thirusivapragasam (Siva) Subramaniam
Director

Siva has worked as a surgeon, medical educator, University examiner and researcher in Malaysia, India, UK and Ireland. Presently based in Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN, USA). He had also authored Dissection Guides and study guides for medical, dental and podiatry students of Queens University (UK) and University of Ulster (UK). He had also written university examination question papers and also been an examiner for the above-mentioned students. He had also been a board member of the medical student support guidance team. He had worked in Mother Teresa Hospital and Hospitals in 3rd world countries supported by WHO and USAID. He is a member of HANDS (Hydrocephalus Association Network and Discovery Science). He has also co-authored a paper that focuses on a novel way of identifying epileptogenic areas in the brain, thus setting a new trend in neurosurgical techniques in the treatment of epilepsy. He is also the inventor of the "Non-Obstructive Cerebral Shunt" to correct Hydrocephalus which is in progress. He is also the Founder and CEO of the "Subramaniam Foundation for Global Brain Health" https://www.subramaniamfoundationfgbh.com/ .He was also interviewed as one of the 100 inventors selected in the world by the University of Hiroshima, Japan. Also, a consultant to a medical device manufacturing company based in Japan.

Michael Mc Cann

Jacqui O’Kane

Jacqui found yoga during her first pregnancy falling in love with both physical and emotional benefits.

She then decided to complete her Hatha Yoga YTT with Jo Maguire.  Since then she has continued to develop her study of yoga and gained qualifications in Pregnancy Yoga, Post Natal Mother & Baby yoga, Yin Yoga with the Josh Summers School of Yoga and studying anatomy with Gary Carter.

After gaining teaching experience she was given the opportunity to train and become a Course Tutor. Since then she has been teaching along side Jo as an Assistant Course Tutor.

She loves being part of the journey that the trainee teachers embark upon, discovering the many aspects that yoga has to offer us both on and off the mat.

Before yoga Jacqui’s career was in pharmaceuticals so she especially enjoys teaching about the alignment of asana through anatomy & physiology.

She opened her own yoga studio in 2018 with several of the teaching team being graduates from our YTT.

Her teaching now focuses predominantly on Yin and Restorative classes and developing rehabilitation programmes for clients dealing with injuries working closely with local physiotherapist & chiropractor.

She also supports and offers chair Yoga to a specialist Brain Injury group.

Since opening the studio Jacqui chose to study further and became a Kinesiologist & Bio Resonance Practitioner in 2019 and now also offers a Complementary Health Clinic.

Gemma Cullen

Gemma’s Yoga and mindfulness journey began when she was 12years old after being taught in school. She came back to asana yoga after a shoulder injury and her love has grown ever since. Her practice and teaching focus primarily on foundation and alignment, developing functional movement through athletic sequencing. She works a lot alongside athletes to help enhance their physical performance, reduce injuries and improve their breath work. She also works alongside Elite Physiotherapy to help in Patients rehabilitation. Her classes will help you build strength both physically and mentally, which will flow over into your everyday life.

Gemma is Mammy to little Sadie, and while pregnant she gained her Antenatal YTT qualification. Her Pregnancy Yoga is aimed to allow all Mama’s-to-be to escape from our busy everyday lives, to slow down and connect to their baby while preparing their body and mind for birth.

Nuala NiScollain

Nuala is passionate about sharing yoga with her community and sharing also the health benefits with everyone both young and old. Nuala has experience in working with children of all ages and love to see them shine brightly. 

Mayte

Mayte originally from Cordoba in Andalusia, Spain. Is a member of Flamenco Belfast and have facilitated Salsa, Flamenco and Rumba dance for many years. Mayte began her yoga journey in …. And on completing her Yoga teacher training in 2018. She currently infuses Flamenco and Yoga within the intention of bringing movement. Breathe work and mediation. Yoga helps you find your centre and Flamenco helps to express yourself and uplift you. 

In her classes you will experience the fusion of both dance and yoga in a creative, relaxed and fun environment regardless of where you are beginning from. 

Our 200-Hour Curriculum uniquely blends the history and philosophical teachings of yoga with the essential components of asana, anatomy and sequencing. While the curriculum is stacked for an immersive learning experience, the delivery is hands-on and personalized, encouraging a well-rounded approach to developing both your personal practice and your teaching skills. The training is specifically designed to help you:

  • Advance your study of asana (including proper alignment, benefits, and contraindications of the physical postures)
  • Understand the principles of anatomy and body mechanics
  • Explore the science and art of sequencing
  • Learn and practice hands-on adjustments
